SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Suspended Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd has been sentenced to a year of probation and can't drive for 90 days after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge.

A St. Joseph County magistrate on Wednesday gave Floyd a one-year prison sentence that was suspended. He also ordered that after Floyd gets his license back, he will have a device installed in his car for 180 days that will prevent it from starting if his blood-alcohol level is too high.

Prosecutors say when Floyd was arrested March 20 in South Bend he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent - more than double Indiana's legal limit for driving.

According to the South Bend Tribune, Floyd pleaded guilty Wednesday in St. Joseph County Traffic and Misdemeanor Court to one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was arrested March 20 on Notre Dame's campus.

 

He had faced a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
