Giants waive WR/KR Davis following failed physical

06/28/2010 - East Rutherford, NJ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New York Giants on Monday waived wide receiver/kick returner Chris Davis.

Davis was claimed off waivers by New York from the Cincinnati Bengals last Thursday. The Florida State product didn't even make it to training camp, though, as he failed a physical.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pounder missed the entire 2009 season with a hamstring injury he suffered in the Hall of Fame game against Buffalo.

He played his previous two season with Tennessee and over 17 games he totaled seven catches for 69 yards and averaged 9.1 yards on 33 punt returns and 26.0 yards on six kickoff returns.

The Giants need a return specialist after Domenik Hixon was lost for the season with a knee injury in minicamp.
